I've been trying to switch my blogspot blog to a custom domain. I just changed my custom domain DNS (followed this Google guide). When I enter my custom domain it gives me an error saying: The requested URL / was not found on this server. Does this mean the DNS needs to be updated before it shows my blog or did I do something wrong in the DNS settings? My website. Thanks in advance,
That means that the DNS has propagated but you don't have your website at that location. I maybe wrong, but that is what i see. Check if you have all the files present there for your blog.
Is it possible that my host needs to update the DNS settings first before it redirects the website to that location? Google Help says it can sometimes take up to 2 days before DNS settings are being updated.
Yes, the hosts take about 48 hours to get the DNS totally propagated. - If you have the domain, then you change the nameservers. The host has nothing to do with it. These are the current nameservers as per the DNS scan in USA: nameserver: ns1.metaregistrar.nl nameserver: ns2.metaregistrar.nl Are they the new one or the old one ?
My domain is hosted in Holland Anyway, you think I should just wait 48 hours to see if I've done things correctly? Could this be the solution to my problem?
I think your DNS has already propagated and you should check for your blog files on your hosting server. I think those are either not present, or they don't have the permissions to be read by the public.
are you sure you uploaded files to your new host? To make sure your dns has propogated. go to start > run > cmd then type and see if your new site ip shows up.
The thing is I don't have a hosting server and I don't want to move my files over there. I only registered the domain (without hosting) and I want to keep the files on my blogspot account. I just want my current blogger blog to have a .com domain. Like I said I followed the instructions from Google Support (click) but I'm not sure if I filled in the DNS forms correctly.
