I am planning to create a website with links to iPhone/iPad apps, something that would make the app discovery process easier or more fun than iTunes is. Now, there are a few App Store related domains available on SEDO with the appstore keyword, be it .info, .tv, or .cc I was wondering if those were reasonable domain names in terms of trademark use. I can see there are websites like appsto.re running, that would make me think it is ok I guess? What would be a reasonable price to buy one of these on SEDO?
It's not the SEDO transaction I am concerned about. An USPTO search shows there is currently no Appstore trademark in the US, but EU trademark search says there is. It would seem the term itself is on its way to become generic, ie. every time a newspaper says another company is about to release a tablet/smartphone they say it will have its app store. I just saw this yesterday: wepad.mobi/en (look into spec chart in the pdf).
