I see a lot of ppl buying related domains to their niche. Say it is fishing, and I have fishing dot com, I might buy up all kinds of domains with fishing in the name. I may be dense today, but I don't see the real value in this. Can someone show me the light?
They just invest in the kinds of domains related to their niche. This helps sometimes to bring in the type in traffic.
There is lots of traffic in "long tail" searches and it tends to be more targeted. So why not have a site specialized in muskie lures, bass lures, pike lures etc.
also I think many domainers have read articles telling them to pick a niche and dominate it, so that when an end user buyer comes along, they have to go through you if they want a good name. I'm searching for the interview with "mr 360", but I can't find it
Might as well focus on your niche if you know what the traffic results are in that area. Expand off the good instead of always searching for something new.
