If you use a domain broker to sell some domains for you, as they act as the third party, and they sell on to their potential list of buyers, who have purchased domains before from the broker,

Then can the broker be sneaky, and 'hide' the real value of the domain (keeping it to them selves)

    - lets say you tell them the domain you want to sell, and the domain broker knows that some of his list of buyers will be willing to pay is $30,000 for the domain)

but the broker gets sneaky and gets back to you saying that the domain is getting a value of $5000 from a buyer, ($25,000 less)

and then when you sell it to the broker for $5000, they they secretly sell it on to the buyer who originally is willing to pay $30,000 for it?
    - and the broker gets a $25,000 profit for themselves!

(so the broker has known that the domain will get $30,000 from a buyer, but JUST tells you that it will fetch JUST $5000)

    1) Have you used a broker - what was your experience?

    2) Have you used a broker, and they have and they have done exactly this to you ? (told you it is worth less, and they sell it on for MUCH higher)

    3) How can you check if the broker does NOT operate like this?
(so that you basically will get an honest value of $30,000 from the broker)

    4) Do you have experience in using a domain broker, who does NOT operate like this?

What are your opinions on 1) 2) 3) and 4)

    thanks.

So you are accusing brokers of fraud?
Have you had any success in Court proving this?
Do the contracts signed by both parties specifically prevent this?

I have a question first, why would you need a broker for? Was the domain really high profile?
This is quite serious and I understand some part of the frustration, but did the broker sign a contract with you to present you any offer coming through? Domains are like properties, in many cases you are not sure how much they would go for and if the broker buys it from you and then sells it, you have no actual ground unless you can prove the broker knew and worked under fraud.
I have dealt with a broker for a client, it is important to vet them through ratings and rankings and make sure they are reputable. Also the contract you sign is extremely important. Mostly kids these days find a broker from Fiver or such websites and then complain.

    Hi!
I haven't had any experiences dealing with a Broker but I would like to share an old scam which is still ongoing until now. Just 3 days ago, I got an offer from someone who claims to be a Domain Broker from California. She said her client would like to buy one of my domains for $15,000. I immediately sensed that it is a bit fishy because based on my domain appraisal, it is worth around $2,000 but not more than $2,500. But she kept on insisting that she has a rich client who is willing to pay. She just asked me to get a domain certificate from http://authorize-name.net/ .

I told her that I won't be paying any upfront cost of the sale without any legal guarantees of the sale and I never had to.

She gave me this link and said her username on the thread is "Domain Broker"
    http://answersgoogle.org/answers/threadview/id/85072413.htm

Good thing I did some research and I found out that there are a lot of people who had received the same copy-paste letter with the same link included. They ask people to purchase a domain certificate and then afterwards, the broker disappears, leaving the seller broke from paying for the certificate.

I told her that I knew about her scam and she did not bother me anymore.

Is there a place on the Internet where we can report this type of Domain Broker scam? I guess, their targets are newbies like me. I'm just glad that I had done a little research.
