Fine. I will just go ahead with GoDaddy then.

    Two things;

    1. Which plan is right for me?
    2. Should I use my name as my domain name?

no don't use your name! use a name that represents what you will be blogging about!

go with the cheap package to get started! I think it's Economy Plan

For registering a domain, Godaddy or Namecheap is the best option. As for the hosting, uhm.. hostgator should do the job.

Hi, in my opinion namecheap for registering domains ( it's cheap and it has a lot of features.. ).
For hosting, there're a lot of sites, but it's not easy to tell you "choose it"
    Lunarpages, hostmonster, ...
Just remember to search 'coupon code' in Google to spend less money when signing on the hosting site ;)!!
There's a DP user that has a site ( http://top10webhosting.review4dummies.com/ ) it could be a point to start.
    Good work!

Save yourself from the problems, do not use Godaddy for hosting.
Heck PM me and I'll save you from having to use Godaddy. I'd rather you start safe than feel sorry later on.

GoDaddy is the best place to buy Domains,
DreamHost.com is the best web hosting provider, you can get quality hosting with cheapest price. You don't need to pay full price, because you can use coupon. For your convenience, here is a DreamHost coupon: HANDINGCHAOCOM, with this dreamhost coupon, you can get $60 off any of your order.

GoDaddy has coupons too, you can search on Google.

Get a domain from Godaddy(its attractive and lots of unwanted popping things) Or name cheap (Good but expensive)
And get hosting from Dreamhost or anything but not Hostgator or Citrex hosting.

Yeah. I checked out namecheap.com and I did not really like it. GoDaddy is cheaper than NameCheap.
