    hi there,

maybe someone can help me. i have a website since 2004, but always tried to get some more members, more traffic, well you know the whole game.
however, there was another site with a similar topic, but he gave up after a year, website was gone and the domain went into "pending delete" status, so i tried to backorder it (via pool.com). this domain expired 2 days ago on 14. or 15., but when i checked it again i found some mfa-site under this domain! i did some research and it seems like the same guy backordered a few hundred domains to set up his spam empire.
i cant go and ask im, seems like he lives in some small town south-east of st. louis, illinois: 30 streets, maybe 500 citizens, 4 different surnames - so its just to far away for me.
any ideas? what would you do to get this domain?

Why would you care where he lives? Give him a call, or shoot an email and arrange a deal if you need the domain that bad.

INV is right, all you need to do is dig his Phone Number and call him somehow and talk to him about the domai, you can also consider emailing the person or if all else fails, write to him.

email him . . . he might try to rip him off . .. but he rather make money off you than wait for affiliate fees . . .

try some one else to but him

that is do not deal with him directly

ask your friends or any DP member for that domain he may sell out that a low price to them

but if you contact him then he will rise the price abnormally

Or if you are that desperate, register a trademark on that domain name and send him a legal notice, most likely he will chicken out and hand over the domain for free.

Considering he backorders domains. I dont think he would be stupid to hand it over without you filing papers for court :)

I would send him an email to check if he's interested in a sale.
After all if he got a few hundreds he should be able to live without the one you want for the right price

Try to backorder yourself the domain, but there are very low chances to succeed. Email him with an offer !

Let somebody else ask him first about selling you ten totally different domains (the one you want included).

Backordering doesn't necessarily fail, unless you use something like GoDaddy (GoDaddy doesn't work most of the time) Try Pool.com

Offer him alot of cash. in my personal experience, people dont care how much the domain means to you and how much you want it. :) They only care about cash. Good luck.

Seriously some of the worst replies I have ever read.

The guy is a spammer, the only reason he bought the domain is to acquire the traffic that will come with it. He doesnt care that you have a site similar to what the old site had and you want to capitilize on the traffic thats coming his way!

He wants to do the SAME damn thing!

could be just a domain tasting scheme. backorder it and you might get a change to get it back.
domains are dropped in five days intervals when in tasting

    Hi,

So I backordered a domain using Pool.com ..... And now after the expiration date the status of my order is "Acquired - awaiting payment" ...

The question is, what do I do now? I take it from the word "Acquired" I will be the proud owner of the domain once I pay (if I can work out how to pay) ??
