How long is too long to list a domain up for auction? Is 30 days too long to list your domain in auction? What are you thoughts?

depends on your auction and where you are auctioning it

I use godaddy for some of my auctions and if i want to sell a name quickly i start it very low and make it a 7 day auction

if i have a few that i want more money, then I make them into a 30day counter offer auction and let people offer an amount

Higher priced names/sites need to be listed for longer. If you sell something for less than $5,000 it is better to list it for 1-7 days with a BIN price. Most people can follow a 1 month lasting auction patiently only if they expect to save a reasonable amount (i.e, $1,000 or more) at the end of the auction.

On all 3 domain auction listings I have on Flippa.com have a BIN of $500
I started the bidding at $10
I posted them for 30 days because I thought that would be the best way to maximize the $19 I spent on each auction listing. I guess u learn as u go.....

I hope you can sell them at BIN in the first few days. Otherwise, after the first week, I am afraid that you will be wasting your time by expecting a new bid. You can find good resources at flippa/sitepoint to read about how to start a successful auction.
I think sedo is much better than flippa for domain sales. I would spend $49 at sedo for 1 month sitewide featured listing.
