This is the first time I have bought some domains in order to sell them later for a profit. The domains are registered at NameCheap.com and are following: www.BuyCheapIpad.com www.BuyCheapIpads.com Both are domains only and are registered on January 27th 2010 when Apple revealed the name of the Ipad. Both domain names are also keyword rich. What do you think guys could I sell these domain names or not? If yes then what do you think could be the ballpark figure of how much I should ask? Thank you very much for your thoughts!
be careful.. the trademark in your domain might cost you a lot of troubles.. I suggest you to sell it quickly to the noobs in flippa..
You definitely have a trademark issue here. If you go to Google and type in the search for cyber squatting, you'll find a lot of information explaining how trademark infringement applied to domain names and what the potential legal consequences are.
Im not sure I understand... I did a little search here in the forums and found many people selling ipad related domains. Does every domain with the name ipad in it infringe some sort of a trademark or is it because the domain name (buycheapipad.com) implies that you can buy an iPad (which falls under trademark). I have been running websites for a long time but when it comes to domains, I am a noob
Honestly he shouldn't have any problem here. These sites happen for every big product and rarely cause a stir. It's more so about what you do with the domain. Just owning it isn't going to do anything unless they legitimately want the domain. With that being said, you could probably get a few hundred for these if you sell them soon enough for the buyer to be competitive in the game. If you don't sell them soon, you could probably make quite a bit if you got these indexed for some of the better marketing keywords and generated steady SE traffic (but that's not just the domain then).
What's the best place to sell domains in general? I'm probably going to try and sell my domains www.BuyCheapIpad.com and www.BuyCheapIpads.com. And also - really haven't got a decent answer on how much they could go for?
Lol, no kidding? Isn't this the case with everything? I am still not seeing any figures that I was asking for. I was hoping for your professional opinion... Does having a trademark issue mean that I will not be able to sell it?
I am not to sure that trademark would be an issue, as long as you do not make the site look like it is from apple, or use their logo and stuff, just like cheapipod(s).com. Also don't sell hot ipads on the site . I like the name, my best guess would be low $xxx for both (although I am not too sure about that to be hounest).
Your best bet will be to just drop the names. Even if you try to drop them off onto someone else, Apple could still hold you accountable for trademark infringement. Just ring this one up as a mistake and look for a domain you can develop and that doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.
