Please help me set up my site 'calaisturbo dot com dot au', someone already has an account set up with this domain but they should not have it any more.

Can the account be deleted so I can register a new account for this domain?

    Thanks in advance.

Please explain what you mean there -- have you bought the domain?

    Sorry, to be explicitly clear...

The domain is not mine. I am looking to rent ad space from the owner of this domain and have negotiated a fee for the ad space.

When I have come to register the Coop account, I get the error message 'domain already in use'.

Following conversations with the owner of the domain, it is clear that he does not have the login details, and has not had communications with anyone about using the Coop on his site previously.

In summary, I need to set up a coop account for this domain but cannot, and the owner of the domain does not have the login details.

Can someone release this account? Someone must be able to see it is not currently in use, and probably has not been in use for a long time (if not ever).

    Thanks again for the help.

Again, I'm talking about Coop network here, not registering the domain or buying a site or anything, just opening a Coop network account for the domain.

umm you want to purchase advertising space on this guys site you send him your banners or link for the advertising, he does not give you the login details to the site.

the domains all ready been purchased by another person and has been used as a forum by this other person its quite clear they dont jsut want to "give" it away.

If you want advertising sapce you email the owner and tell him where you want the ads.

Also when buying .com.au domains your need a ABN number to buy them eg a australia registered business number.

    So who owns the site?

do you own it? their should be no problem setting up the "Coop network" if you are the sole owner of this domain name.

I've been in negotiations with the site owner for some time, there is nothing untoward going on here, just a simple case of trying to open a coop account for this domain, but getting an error message.

Can a DP admin member please take a look at this?

To put it even more clearly as i've caused a lot of confusion it seems:

A coop account already exists for calaisturbo dot com dot au.

The domain owner did not create the account.

Nobody knows who owns the account.

    The account is not active.

The domain owner wants to set up the Coop on his site, but can't.

    Help?

There's no group of people owning this.

One person owns the domain, who is going to sell some ad space to me.

I am going to use this ad space to put the coop ads on the domain.

    Simple.

I think you need the person who set up the COOP account in the first place to cancel the account before you can open a new account for that domain.

Thats how it was a couple of years ago when I bought a site and tried to place it in the coop. The previous owner was a dick and wouldnt cancel the account so I couldn't place that site in the COOP. Hopefully things have changed since then. Proof of ownership should be enough.
