Domain age

I have a site that's about a year old, and I'm thinking about using the domain for a myspace type site. The problem is, the domain is unrelated to myspace, it has my name in it. However, I've been hearing domain age is a major factor in determining a site's rank. Furthermore, my domain has backlinks pointing to it with an unrelated anchortext. Should I create a new domain for this website or stick with the old domain and get some revelant backlinks?

It is not the age of the domain that counts... it is the age of your links..

What takes a site to the top is having your target KW as the anchor text of a link along with the age of that link.

Basically - one link with your target anchor text from 1994 is worth much more than one from today...

if the backlinks have unrelated anchor texts, then you should get a new domain
