Hi; I have registered a new domain nearly 9 months ago . It was a free when i register it but i have realised somethink while i was checking web archive for this web site . There is record for this domain on http://web.archive.org/ . Web arhive says that this domain is 5 years old but i have registered it nearly 9 months ago. My question is that . what is the age of this domain in eye of google? It's 9 months old or 5 years old according to google? the url is in my signature ( www.turkcebilgi.net) Thanks
Domain age plays a small role but the main reason older domains are good is because backlink length. If you have a 5 year old domain that has 5 year old backlinks that is what makes the difference.
This depens on one thing - how long was the domain down - before you registered it. If it was more than 5-6 months the records/history might be lost and also for the 404's and etc it might had lost its value ... so I'd say in such case for G it would be worth as new domain .... ohterwise it would be great old domain That issue was described in one of Matt's rants about domain age ... I don't remember where but if you googel it you'll be able to get the right info .. Cheers, Venetsian.
