Domain Age is more important than I always thought

    It seems that Domain Age is very important and an older Website gives way better Rankings in Google than a new one.

    I own a Domain that I bought about 4-5 years ago. Actually I wanted to make it a private Blog, but never really had the Time to write any articles. So within the first year I may wrote 20 Articles. Then I switched software from Joomla to Wordpress, then again didn't do anything with it. I think it has no incoming links at all.

    Then about 10 days ago, I installed the feedwordpress plugin for Wordpress.
    This Plugin posts a lot of Content automatically, but only from feeds. Within 3 days I saw a huge increase in Search Engine Traffic. This Site has no PR !!!
    To be honest I'm very surprised. Why is the content indexed so fast and why does it rank so good? Could only be the domain age.
