    Hi,

I have a domain which is 5 yrs old, now i would like to redirect this domain to a new domain. Will this have any impact in the SERP's?

Also, Will there be any weightage carried to the new domain wrt to previous domain age?

    Regards
    Dorothy.

Certainly domain age matters a lot..and help you to getting higher rankings in search engines..but redirection only redirect the traffic and not the rankings..

You have 2 options 301 redirect and 302 redirect. i would suggest you do 301 redirect so that you can get benefits of the old aged domain.

    It is a big risk.

About the loss in SEO value after permanent 301 redirect, yes. You will still lose some value in SERP ranking after permanent redirection.

All the backlinks will start pointing to new domain.

Of course, factors like keyword in domain, domain age, internal links, anchors, dofollow, outgoing links, etc also plays important role in ranking.

So, the answer is yes, you will still lose some value after redirection.
