I think he is saying, google how to gives PR for age domain sites.
PR is based on quality back links. not important age of domain.

PR is not based on domain age, but it is NOT only based on backlinks- i saw some sites, which didn't have any high-quality BL or many low-quality BL, and they got PR 2-4.
I think that is pretty good for a completly new site ;)

Exactly. Age affects SERP results. If this is an old forum, perhaps the site could be sold or something and put to good use by someone else. Older sites are great.

    PR for age domain sites

I understand the meaning of page rank and domain age, but the relevancy of page rank and domain age is actually not relevant to the sector of traffic going to that website or domain name;)

Google does look at domain age, but the age of his domain is actually a positive thing. However, domain age is not a part of PageRank. PageRank is the probability of a searcher finding a certain page by randomly surfing the web.

What likely happened is link rot. It sounds like it's been quite some time since anyone's really used the forum, so over time the backlinks (links from other sites) that it has will start to disappear as other sites shut down, change owners, delete pages, etc.

Since there's no fresh content on his forum for people to link to, his PR continues to decline as these old links continue to rot away.

Google usually favors your site on SERP results if it is older than the others.

I've launched 2 websites in the last 30 days. Within 2 weeks they were ranking very well in the serps. I think it depends on your competition, if it's heavy then they will win at first because they are established. Eventually with some good SEO most are pretty easy to beat.
Besides domain age, how long did you register your domain name for? I hope more then a year! I use to buy them for 10 out of paranoia, but now I'm satisfied with 3 years if I'm on a tight budget. I'm a firm believer that if you buy it for only year you become a spammer suspect. Of course, that's just my opinion.

So if domain age effects serp rank how old is old enough?
What if you have a 5 year old junk site of little value for the keyword competing with a great 2 year old site of high value to the keyword and both have similar backlinks and pr? The 5 year old junk site will rank better because it's older?

Domain age effects search ranking, not nec. PR - an old and relevant site may be #1 for a keyword, but have PR of 5.

Domain age has nothing to do with PR, it's my own experience with many old/new domains

The age of a domain doesn't affect PR directly. PR only depends on the incoming links. However, age may indirectly affect PR since the older a site is, the longer some of its incoming links may have been in place. Since Google probably ages backlinks - handing over more of the available link juice over time - an older site should have older links and might get a higher PR as a result. All this is purely conjecture though and even if it is true, the PR wouldn't keep increasing forever.

I agree, pagerank is not relate the website age, backlink is the important role in pagerank.
