Hi all - I'm seeking some advice on a domain name for my niche. I currently have two options: my-niche-product.com OR mynicheproduct.org I'm wondering which is better - using dashes and keeping the .com, or going without the dashes and replacing .com with .org? My main concern is Google, because my domain name is a frequently searched term. Any advice?
What I can recommend: 1. Do not show available domain name on public. (they can be stolen) 2. Try do avoid dashes Good luck
Both are fine, but it depends on your niche and traffic in your domain or niche. In my view, do not loss time in thinking about domain names or niche. The name is (in my view) secondary thing. Any way, I like domain names without dash(s).
Definitely better off with the .org, I like .org's anyway but if the .com needs dashes it simply isn't worth it.
Thanks for all your valuable input! I liked the .org option better myself, but I had read somewhere that it could be detrimental to use a .org with a for-profit enterprise. My site will give away free information, but it will also contain links and ads to paid services as well. I had also ready that .com's have the most seo power, which is why I wondered if the dashes mattered. I think I'll go with the .org, per everyone's recommendations, and forward the other. Siberforum: Thank you for the advice - I didn't post my actual domain name though. Thanks again!
