While working on a client’s roof, we had to enter the rear of the home to remove shingles which had blown off during tear off. The homeowner knew that we were there and was home at the time we were doing the job. She clearly told us to go ahead and clean the items out of her yard and pool area. When we entered, the dog ran out. We gave chase. To no avail. Now the woman is crying and calling constantly. Additionally, Saturday night she called my cell at 3am alleging that the tar paper blew off which was nailed with hurricane nails and tabs, and since it blew off, it subsequently leaked inside her home and damaged her home. It is my belief that she and her boyfriend sabotaged the work due to the fact that she was trying to scam the insurance company for more money by requesting that I fluff up my estimate several grand and submit it to the insurance carriers adjuster for her. I refused. First she is alleging damages to her home which we started a claim from our end thru our general liability company, got the claim number today. Now she alleges that the dog getting away was our fault.
Please advise. i can be reached by email at .

This is a forum for legal issues related to Internet businesses, not a general legal forum. Sounds like you might need a lawyer anyway.

Definitely talk to a lawyer--the dog escape will be very fact-bound and not something that you'll be able to dispose of easily without either a settlement or a trial.

But this isn't the best forum for this discussion...
