Hello, What are the SEO benefits of using DoFollow Plugin for my WordPress Blog? I knw its good for commenters... as they get a backlink... and also I knw that it increases the comments on my blog....... but will Search Engines penalize that??? I guess they can detect this....... Please leave ur valuable opinioons......
DoFollow promotes interaction between you and your audience. It rewards the audience for interacting. It also can be an attractor for spammers. But fortunately, those plugins usually have ways to limit their effect: Require an approved post - before any subsequent posts are DoFollow Require X amount of posts - before any posts are DoFollow etc
You will be sharing any pagerank you generate for a post with the sites you are linking out to. You wont necessarily be hurting your own rankings as much as youll be helping someone elses
I have seen another thread that Google is penalysing sites which FOLLOWS the links in comments...... No source for that info....
I have not heard anything like that, but I do think it could be a concern if people don't stop abusing it and spaming blog comments.
You won't be penalized, but you will be passing PR juice from your page to the others. (By the way Mike, most blogs have rel="nofollow" added to external URLs in comments by default - he's talking about a plugin that removes it.) In other words, the plugin makes the blog entries (and the comments) act like any other Web page. No other "special rules" apply, nor should they.
I saw a plugin that lets you block the author's link if you don't approve. This might interest you if you are enabling dofollow, befcause it would let you choose on a per-comment basis.
If you want to be happy together with your users, then install " wordpress linklove plugin" , everyone will have to post atleast 10 quality comment before their comments will become dofollow.
