I know, what ever the PR might be. But if it is an education institution website, it WILL boost our PR. But I am talking about an educational institution website that is not having a '.edu' tld. That is why I am confused. Will this educational website still help me as any .edu website?
i thing its still worth... start from i have seen that many education site have a good PR.. For my opinion.. the only reason why there are have good PR is all because inner link page that they have build... you may seen and check it
I know that the backlink will be worth if the site have a PR. But Backlink from a edu website is worth a lot lot more than other site's backlinks. I wanted to know if this website is also worth the same as the .edu website.
i think any TLD with pr1 will be equal, IMHO edu link are no better than any other, it's usually .edu links have less outbond links which make them better than another TLD's with lots of outbound links.
All major SEO companies do recognize the extension of .gov, .edu, and .mil as having more weight but it is more because they will usually have more strong backlinks coming in and do things right to be an authority website. I do think there is more weight put on these extensions but it is not like you would take a PR1 .edu over a PR4 .com
I agree with articledirectory. Matt Cutts has explicitly reiterated several times that a .org or .edu TLD is no more valuable than a .com one when evaluating the weight of an inbound link. Not only do these sites tend to have less outbound links, the inherent trust of a university often means their inbound link profile is large and impressive, meaning that by their own nature, they tend to have higher PageRank and be more valuable.
I agree. I have read repeatedly in the last few months that .edu sites dont hold any more weight than a .com site. It is just that they normally have a better PR because they are a trusted site and more people will link to them.
