DoFollow link building from AboutUs.Org

Got an email from AboutUs.Org

Then on the specifies page, found the condition for being DoFollowed

Now isnt that plain old article writing. ??
What if the AboutUs.Org page tends to get a better search engine rank ? What if you loose intermediate traffic ?? Its not a perfect win-win situation, is it ?? AboutUs can always refrain from adding DoFollow links..
Should one definitely go for it ?? or should it be given a miss ?? Its free anyways and may work for link building. Want to know what experts here say.

Thought I would give this question a day to see what others thought, since I am from AboutUs I have a lot to say about this:

* AboutUs is a great way to send people to your website from an easy-to-edit platform. Think of it as an easily updatable article, similar to a Wikipedia article, about you, your website, your company and your ideas.

* Many website owners and operators find AboutUs valuable because it's an open platform that's also one of the top 1,500 websites on the internet. AboutUs gives people a place to promote themselves on a website that receives more traffic than their own website, and probably more than most web directories.

* AboutUs.org pages often appear in the top few results when someone looks up a domain on a search engine. People click on the AboutUs entry to find third party information about a website.

* If you edit your page, as more_sem has, you accept that other people can edit the page, too. Unlike your website, where you have 100 percent control, AboutUs gives you collaborative control. Other people will learn about you, add what they know about your work, and produce a richer information source than searchers will find elsewhere. As they learn about you, people have multiple opportunities to click through to your own website: the title of page, the picture of website and links you add are all ways they can get to your site.

* We are often referred to as a friendly wiki, because we want you to talk about yourself, tell the world why you exist and what you care about. *And* we want to expose people to The Wiki Way and help people understand it.

I'd love to hear why iamobsessive and John9292 wouldn't bother with AboutUs, and I want to answer questions about the site.
