So let's see how this works. I have a website that I want listed in the DMOZ. I've applied over a year and a half ago, with no listing yet.

There. I've laid the bait. Do I have to cross my fingers, or stick my finger in my belly button to get it to work?

And some people are honest enough not to be self-righteous.

Never done wrong, you say... Interesting.

ROFL, so if you admit to being corrupt you are being honest... if you deny it you are dishonest. Sounds like you'd have made a good member of the Spanish Inquisition. :D

Who say? Not me. But corruption has never appealed, it's too icky for my tastes. I've always thought that if those who put immense effort and brainpower into devising crooked schemes and covering their tracks put as much effort and brainpower into honest endeavours they would almost certainly reap greater rewards. Take DMOZ for example - why go to all the lengths and put in all the effort to eventually edit a category of some commercial value for corruption purposes when the same marketing results or better could be achieved with a fraction of the effort by ignoring DMOZ completely and focusing on more certain means of promoting sites.

    You've definitely misjudged me...

I was talking about people being corrupt, in general. I'm NOT a corrupt DMOZ editor. As a matter of fact, I'm a completely otherwise honest person, save my incurable human condition...

No, but this forum has a tradition of deliberately misunderstanding a posters meanings. ;)

For most people, and most editors, the price at which they can be bought is very much higher than what is on offer and the risks of accepting are too great. Therefore they remain honest and reliable citizens. Whether everyone ultimately has a price no-one can tell since not everyone has been tested, it is just a theory. Of course money is not the only thing that can corrupt. The exchange may be more sinister, in response to a threat of violence for example, blackmail. I would imagine even the most honest of people might be susceptible to a loved one being under threat unless they do something.

Not a theory. Some people can only be bought through/by death. That's called, "the ultimate price".

Money is probably NOT the most common corrupting element. Have you read the headlines this week? ;)

We're all made of the same stuff. Some of us just have a little better control over ourselves than others...

I was only an editall so I was only semi-immortal. Administrators, now they live forever. ;)

I have but I don't get the connection. Mine says "Swimming Pool To Get Refit Over Winter" and another story headed "New Traffic Calming Gives Residents the Hump".

Not according to DNA tests. ;)

Perhaps the person who dropped me "feedback" on September 27th would have the courage to defend their statements openly? (or at least sign their comments)

I just love this. This kind of unsigned feedback proves what a joke the "rep" really is. Seeing how most of it comes, not from knowledge, (or lack of) but from how you fit in with the popular kids on the board. Say the things that everyone wants to hear, and you get buzzed. Say what they don't want to hear, and you get dinged.

Sign 'em, or don't leave 'em. Otherwise, your points are wasted on me.

Console yourself with the knowledge that in this forum leaving red rep for someone else loses the giver points too. Those that give them too often can find themselves greyed out.

Not worried... As in all forums with a rep system, it's just a game, with a large number of points seldom serving as an accurate indicator of anything.

Usually the people with the largest number of points seem to garner them in the "off topic" forums.

That's fantastic! You can spend the time you would have devoted to his, to approving MINE, instead!

Yes, please remove the suggestion for review.

    Thank you.

And if everyone else did the same DMOZ would collapse (faster than it is already going to)!!

Why should a directory consider itself to be 'god' when it has such a sh1te name in the world of websites?

The days of DMOZ are numbered and you can kiss my a** if you want ANY of my sites listed!!

And as solid7 says "You can spend the time you would have devoted to his, to approving MINE, instead"

    ROFL!!!!!!!!!
