Doesn't "No follow" mean no backlinks? Example: Flickr.com

Flickr.com now automatically adds "No follow" into any links that you put in the description, but I see that some sites still get backlinks from Flickr.com even with no follow in the link. Do I have the wrong info about no follow?

Correct. FlickR is NF. But Google's webmasters will still show it but probably not count it. Nofollow means your not getting a backlink counted - though, that doesn't mean it will show up in your list of backlinks.

Nofollow simple means the link will not count as a positive vote for your website, in the eyes of the search engines. But of cause it is still a back link. You can get a good amount of traffic from that link. It is no completely useless.

Other search engines still give it value, so if there is opportunity and it is a quick placement then do it and forget about it; should see some benefit

It's a strange word for what it really means. Bots FOLLOW the link, as do HUMANS. It should be rel=NOVALUE or some such *shrug* Either way, if it's no follow and on a popular page, it's follow status is irrelevant. The number of humans that see it and like it will far out power the single valueless link *shrug*

Google is the only search engine that honours the nofollow tag completely and it is partial in Yahoo, and none in Ask and other SEs.
