They are rel="nofollow" so they won't help you in Google SERPS. However, some say that Yahoo & MSN give weight to "nofollow"s.
I have uploaded a lot of videos featuring digital products to youtube and metacafe. None from youtube but a lot of backlinks from metacafe and traffic too since many of the urls are highly ranked.
Because they are NoFollow you won't see any SERP improvement. However if you video is cool, some users will click on your link as well.
May as well always put the link there, it's no follow yes, but can drive some traffics, doesn't hurt, scraper tube sites pick up the link when they scrape the vid and perhaps may help in yahoo and msn, who knows.
ive researched some page rank 5 websites that have almost zero backlinks except hundreds of backlinks from youtube.com. my india programmer dude says it wont help anything.
I'd say it can't harm to get your URL on youtube... it's got a quite a lot of visitors, and even though it's a nofollow, it's still a form of ambient advertising... i mean think how many people get tempted to click links on youtube (and i'm not on about the spam links in comments ^^)
It won't help with google but if you make a good video, alot of people will click on the link so it can generate some traffic
in the description next to the video if you do the full url in loser case it links correctly. like this http://www.forums.digitalpoint.com
I think that Youtube does give Backlink juice. Look At My Channel www.Youtube.com/Svipic and the link to my blog doesn't have Nofollow tag <div class="show_info outer-box-bg-as-border"> <div style="float:left;font-weight:bold">Website:</div> <div style="float:right"><a href="http://www.Webist.co.il">http://www.Webist.co.il</a></div> <div class="cb"></div> </div> So what you guys can say about it ? Does it somehow give some juice or not?
Yeah, the user's channel (or profile I guess) URL's count I think. I have a few that show up in my Google Webmaster Tools.
This is a huge misconception. Don't build links based on nofollow/dofollow. Links are links, they all help. And yes, Youtube video description links count as links..as does the "my website" area on your Youtube profile.
YouTube is a great way to build backlinks, though unfortunately you can't use anchor text. The whole DoFollow/NoFollow thing continues to be widely debated, but even if you get no juice from Google, Yahoo and Bing are pretty sizable search engines and the link from a high PR site like YouTube will definitely help.
No they cannot count as backlinks because youtube is a no follow attribute. But it can help somehow to deliver you traffic from your site.Just indicate your site on those videos and if that video really like by the youtube viewers they will enter your site also, so that they will know more a lot of information.
Even with NoFollow it can steer traffic to your site which is cool. But Now I am noticing they are replacing url's of their video embeeders with analytics. Where are the list of back linkers on the video page?
