I don't understand it and my website is only about 4 months old. I call it the google dance. When I first located my site for the search term carpet spot cleaner, it was on page 72 of google. On the next day, it jumped to page 66 and then 58 in the same day. A couple of days later it leaped all the way to page 12, dropped back to page 25, then dropped to page 70. Today I almost fell out of my chair when I saw my site on the first page, I couldn't believe it. Only to be disappointed again to see it drop out of site. It seems that my website does this dance so well that I have a difficult time keeping track of its location.. Here is the link to the site www.carpetspotcleaner.com Its a simple looking site but I have tried to include plenty of good content in it to keep the spiders wanting more. The last time I checked, it was on page 39 of G. I guess I haven't had anything better to do then to track my site. Does anyone have an idea of whats happening with my site? Has anyone ever experienced anything simalar? Please let me know what you think.
You have no keywords or description in your meta tags. I also suggest adding google analytics to track your visitors and how they find you. eg: referring sites or organic google searches.
I'll second that. Your code is also on the heavy side, and you're also lacking headings for your page as well. If you want to see your rankings stabilize, you may want to consider hiring a Web developer who knows about semantic HTML markup and CSS layout techniques as well as search engine optimization. And ask to see a portfolio. I can help you with your search if you decide to go down this route (I deal with Web sites and search engines every day during my spare time when I moderate the forums at SitePoint.com and SEO.com - in addition to my contributions here and on other forums).
My website for the search term, " carpet spot cleaner " is back on the first page of G search engine. www.carpetspotcleaner.com I wonder how long it will stay there this time. I should think of some good ads to put on the site to make some money while I'm there. Anyone have some good advice of some real money making affiliate ads that I should try placing on it?
I probably wouldn't go for an affiliate ad here - instead I'd see what I could do about getting some CPC or CPM ads instead. Of course that would depend on the amount of traffic that I'd be getting in the first place. (Bear in mind I am not an advertising & affiliate networking guru.)
I do have a theory on this. The home page of my site amstore interactive, was at P1 on google uk the other day for dvd authoring. It now appears at a mighty...um well anyone’s guess....I certainly cant find it. There is a sub page of the site on page 1 results but this was doing ok anyway. My theory, is that part of the google algorithm is 'live' (as opposed to monthly crawls, quarterly page rank updates etc). So if 1000 people go to your site (or slide to your site as I like to think of it) on the back of the keyword 'dvd authoring' (but not from a search engine say), then suddenly your ranking will increase. Like a funnel with 'dvd authoring' written down the side that leads straight to your site. Likewise if the next week, there are only 2 people that go to your site by clicking on a link saying 'dvd authoring' then your ranking will drop if you don’t have other factors, eg lots of links, page rank etc to act as a backup to losing position. ----------------------- Dave
That's not the case, Dave. I have a site that doesn't get much traffic (ok, it's really just a single page covering up the site while it's being constructed) which is still ranking well for its targeted keywords (I put some of my targeted keywords on the temporary home page so people would know what the site will be about when it launches, but I forgot to block the domain from my robots.txt file - whoops). The site is almost ready to launch, so there's no point in me blocking it now.
I like that advice. I wonder if anyone knows what the best money makers are. Right now my website is on the first page of Google, Yahoo, and AOL. All I need now is some money making ideas to go with it.
Thats normal, and i think its just because of Competition . Only thing you need to do is remain updated
It's nice when you know that you are not the only one. My site has been holding on the first page of google, yahoo, and aol for a few days now. Hopefully it will remain there for a while.
