Does Your Site Rank Differently in US/International?

Has anyone had this problem: My site is based in the US, uses a US server and hosting, but though it ranks at around 5-6 all around the world, in the US it ranks only at 30.

Its an English site - and gets a lot of incoming links in English. (but gets a few in French and a few in Spanish)

When I use Google Webmaster Tools - it shows me that the site ranks at around 7 in the US, but when I use a proxy or when someone in the US enters google and does the search - I appear at around 30.

I want to know: has this ever happened to one of your sites? What could be the problem?

    Jack.

    This isnt uncommon.

It could just boil down to the fact there is ALOT more competition in the USA. High authority sites rank a lot better in the USA.

The best approach is probably to analyze the sites that are above you in the US results, and try to get a jump on them that way.

    Good Luck :)
