Does your signature Link count as a "real" link?

I've noticed that many people have signatures at the bottom of their posts for their different websites. Is this considered a real link...meaning that the links will be spidered by search engines when search engines spider DIGITAL POINT?

They are spidered, they can show as backlinks when checking your backlinks and I think that MSN may give them some credit. Don't know about Google or Yahoo giving them credit though.

A signature link from this forum is a sure way to get a new sight indexed by Google quickly. They also help with SERPs. Drop a signature link to a site with few backlinks and watch the SERPs fall.

Yes most links from Forums count one thing you need to watch for is if the Forum is using Session ids ( ?1=222+999988$long url&more ) then there is a good chance most of the page wont be indexed by Google at least.

A good idea is to talk in forums related to your website topic so you will get more interest from the readers as well as getting ontopic links that should help more.

It works at least with msn. Put up a signature with title 'sadfsakjdfakjh5436' wait a few weeks and search for that term in msn! your site will be on the first page , and probably the only result

And I used to have that, over at SitePoint. It looked something like this......

    *Link* *Link*
    Link Farm 101-12141618202224
    262830...

with each character in 'Link Farm 101-12141618202224262830' being a link!!! Signitures probably won't help your PR, but yes, they help you get indexed.
