I recently ran into a blog post somewhere out there saying that if you have your a blogroll on every page of your blog, it might actually hurt your Google pagerank/search engine ranking. I am changing my blogroll and am setting things up so I have only one links page instead of a blogroll... just in case this is true. I've heard some people leave the blogroll ONLY on the home page and not categories, archives, etc... Are there any SEO experts out there that can clarify this? I'd appreciate it...
Unless you have many links I don't think so. Nevertheless it's good to pay attention to where you're linking. Link to a shady site and you're in trouble with Google.
as soon as I have enough posts here, I'll post a link to the article... otherwise, try Googling: google pagerank wordpress blogroll
Some people do prefer to let their blogrolls show only on their home page. Some others do it blogwide. You can link to any amount of sites you want ( a reasonable number of course). I see no problem as long as your links direct visitors to user friendly, good sites. A links page wouldn't be an issue either- many sites do it
Just be careful of who you're linking to. Sites that do questionable things can hurt your rankings. As for the number of links in your blogroll, I had heard 20 - 25 outbound links should not be exceeded. Not sure if there is any validity to that, though.
Ok, I think I have enough posts to put links in... here is where I originally found the article: http://thewrongadvices.com/2007/05/15/how-to-prevent-your-blog-from-leaking-pagerank
