Does you rank change if you edit something in your website?

Like for example deleting a page, excluding a page with the All-in-on-SEO plugin stuff like that like editing something.

Remember, pages rank for keywords that people search for. So any changes that you make to pages that affect keywords may have some impact on the rankings. The best example of that would be if you make changes to a page's title tag to incorporate some better keyword(s) that you have researched. Over time, that should positively affect rankings for that keyword. I am constantly analyzing and tweaking my pages' keywords.

    Hi,

I think the above 2 activities would not affect your rankings and they might only affect the indexing number. But, if you change title tag, meta description tag and page contents, the ranking of the modified page would be affected.

    all the best,

    Short answer is: maybe.

There are numerous cases where it wouldn't be affected (if robots had nofollowed / noindexed that page, etc).

And there are numerous cases where it would be affected (if that particular page had deep links to it rather than going to the site's home page, they linked to that specific page, you would expect at least some loss of strength by deleting that page.)

In most situations, a better option than deleting a page is to 301 direct that page to another page of your site (home page, etc).

Well I was about to ask him, What exact changes is he pertaining to?

Yes - It might and No - it wont.

How about if you change your content into something that is totally irrelevant to your website and you put in keywords that you don't even rank for or doesn't even relate to your website even the slightest bit? LOL

That would obviously hurt your rankings.

It all depends on what you change.

If you change the the title tags to something containing your keyword then of course it will eventually effect your rankings. Likewise, if you delete an internal page with keyword rich content that was linking to the homepage then this may ultimately affect the ranking of your homepage.

Dont change the main content, and the other change will work as the update of site.

it might? it depends on what your pages that you took off were and how they were linking to your index page. it might go up with your new page though if it's an "awesome" page

Yup I agreed. I have a test page and If i change keywords, desc or title, then it will reflect on the SERP. But PageRank will remain.

Changing title and description not necessarily affects the ranking. I tested it before.

What if you were targeting diapers in your title and you've changed it to lawn mowers? Would you still say that it won't affect your rankings? lol
