    Hi all

Just wanted to ask some ppl about a problem ive been having with getting traffic from search engines, My new site wipeout44.com has been up and running for about 2-3 months now and Ive created loads of content and add all the keywords/optimisation etc, I've also added xml sitemaps to google webmaster tools and yahoo site explorer and used program such as web ceo to submit to many more.

Now heres my strange problem, my search engine traffic for google is really good as in 200-300 a day BUT when I compare this to yahoo and the other search engines i am barely getting 5 a day

Now is this because Google just kicks yahoos *** at this or are there other things I need to be doing to push yahoo results?

Heres a screen of my search engine traffic for the last 2 months

Actually you will get 8 times more traffic with google compared to yahoo.

Also, yahoo takes time to give you good SERP

I have had websites rank on page one (and sometimes number 1) on yahoo for very competitive keywords for a long time but i am as yet to see any traffic from yahoo. In my experience, not an engine worth chasing at all.

Yahoo can provide you with great amounts of traffic, just as msn can. The difference with Yahoo it seems to me is that they take a significantly more extend time period compared to google to update their SERP results. So its all a matter of time, usually if you rank well with google, yahoo and msn will follow easily but at different times.

I noticed that certain types of domain masking do not work well with yahoo.

Yahoo is becoming less relevant in the search engine world. What your traffic data is a good evidence of that. I have been seeing this for all the sites I have built and optimized. Some sites used to attract a lot of traffic from Yahoo. Even though their rankings stay the same, the amount of traffic they bring have been decreasing steadily.

Yahoo does seem to take much longer then Google. The traffic will always be much lower in my opinion.

Yahoo does take longer to give you a good rank and thus you will get lower referrals from them.

However, remember Google spiders read all the words on your site and pay very little attention to your meta tags. Yahoo on the other hand pay attention to your meta tags.

I've had sites on page 1 of Yahoo and got back less traffic than from Google. I think it's because yahoo has a smaller base of users who do searches. I think most people have all flocked to Google for searching.

Yahoo is horrible, they actually have dead pages on the #1 spot for popular terms. Sites that are either dead like 404, or geocities pages that are broken. I like Yahoo as a company, but their search is just so pitiful.

Yahoo Search sends little traffic compared to Google. One of my sites hovers between positions 1 and 3 for a popular search term on Google and ranks number 1 for the same term on Yahoo. Surprisingly, Google sends 10 times as much traffic to my site than Yahoo, even though my site ranks higher on Yahoo!

Some of your views are interesting. I got about 30K views from Yahoo organic traffic in the last 2.5 months for one site.

I actually SEO for Yahoo and try to get good SERPs there simply because I find Yahoo traffic tend to click on ads more than Google ones. Google SERPs just follow on from the Yahoo ones.

To give up on Yahoo would be foolish in all honesty. Google is not #1 everywhere in the world and the base Yahoo has is more than enough to serve any website.

Yahoo will send more unique visitors from optimized searches, as google will not.

Yahoo can be a good source of traffic BUT it takes time to rank.
