Does Yahoo Still Love You?

I have been on the coop for a few months now. In the beginning Yahoo and MSN loved the coop. Now it seems it is only MSN who is responding to the coop.

Have you noticed a decrease in effectiveness of the Coop with Yahoo?

Do you think this can be circumvented by adding permanent links simultaneously with the Coop?

Sorry to say I did have a serious decrease in effectiveness in Yahoo. Even so much my site is not ranking for anything at all anymore, not even the website's name.

Before coop I had many top20/30 rankings, during first fase of coop the rankings were top5/10. Since 04may05 I am not in top1000 for even the most obscured keywords. The site did not get banned as Slurp is still visiting and the total number of indexed pages has increased to 13.300, but they just decided to not rank my website for anything.....

Is it a function of sending too much weight or too quickly?

I don't think it is too much weight. I only have access to 2k and that is spread out over 5 documents.

For me it probably was too much weight. Had been running the coop for several months without a problem and getting good results as well.

Had about 22k new weight spread around 11 pages with 3 keywords each. At first the weight was spread out evenly and then I thought it would be a good idea to send 20% of the weight to 1 url with 3 different anchortexts. About 2 weeks later my rankings were absolutely gone....

And yes, it is always a better idea to have permanent links, from a SEO point of view.

Therefore I also signed up for Link Vault and although the results are going to take more time, it is also a very safe way to go. It is just like you are exchanging links, without the reciprocal part, links are permanent and (somewhat) related.

If you are into any network for advertising, stay with the coop.
If you are into any network to gain SERP's, go for Link Vault.

It really is as simple as that, IMO.

yahoo has been a total bitch to me the past month or so

it pretty much kicked out 3 of my sites using coop and another 3-4 sites that didn't have coop.

I just had site that added coop to a couple weeks ago, shoot up the ranks and now is gone to. Alot of blog spammers are MIA too.

At first I thought it was the coop but I noticed I had a bunch of other sites gone to, Yahoo also seems to starting to kick out duplicate content. It has kicked out 1000s of pages of one of my aws stores.

I'm certainly feeling the love. I'm #1 for almost every kw I'm tracking. Same on msn. I'm in the top 5 for ½ of the kw I track in G tho, and that's my source of frustration.

I've noticed that my Yahoo SERP has been dropping too... Like Google, maybe Yahoo has also added a filter for rotating links?

Not sure if this post will make it.

You need to support the coop ads with outside static links for it to work. From past posts, the coop will not be changing any time soon.

I am in the same boat. Initially the co-op really helped Yahoo rankings. Now they have completely removed every keyword that is in the co-op. The only keywords that still rank are ones that were not mentioned in the co-op.

I am of the opinion that the drop is co-op releated. I have sites that I did not put in the co-op and they have not changed rankings at all.

My co-opweight has had some drastic shifts lately which could also be the problem. First it had a huge increase because google double counted the pages due to an mod_rewrite change, then a drastic drop, then a semi-rebound.

Even when weight doesn’t shift, I have seen huge swings in ad impressions- sometimes by a factor of 10.

While it is my opinion that the yahoo drop is related to the co-op, for the reasons stated above, I cannot say it happened because:

    Rapid Increase in weight?

    Rapid Decrease in weight?

    Too many page impressions?

    Too little page impressions?

Large swings have cause some sort of filter penalty?

I do not rely on the co-op for all my links. Most were built over a period of years and are all relevant. I don’t think it is possible to implement, but it would be nice if there was some way to cap page impressions. There is no way to predict how many you are going to get and the wild swings in reported back links (up and down) could be a flag.

    MSN results have been fantastic.

I’m just going to wait and monitor the situation.

i have a similar hunch ... but it's little more than that. i had weight fallout for almost a week (it was at zero from 54000 for 5-6 days before i found out due to a php error on my page) and a site relying on that weight went from #1 to page #3 to removed from index. Something happened because the dip was directly in synch with the site getting removed completey --> large dip ... days later rankings fell off.

again, it's just a hunch .. it had many other links outside of coop ... but 54,000 in weight makes for a large amount of links ... far more than my manual ones.

I am a god (that's happy in translation) for Yahoo and MSN.

Recently, i am getting results for all the hard work on Google also .. Third in a 270 mil result search , and first page on several >50 mil. :)

But still. MSN and Yahoo (in order of writing) are the best, when comes to optimizing. Your can increase your positions MUCH more quicker, and easier :)

I had some problems with my weight a few days ago, and more so problems with my DB on the site. The site was basically down for four days. Still Yahoo keeps sending me visitors, if anything I see an increase today.
