I heard a rumor that Yahoo ignores No Follow... is that true?! If not.... do any of the other search engines ignore it? Thanks!
I have a few edu/gov links that are no follow, when I check Yahoo links, they are still listed linking to my web site.
no follow links also show up on my google webmaster panel Basically they wont pass pagerank but they do pass anchor text. And as of yahoo they use TrustRank ( I haev a guide on it for sale btw)
Yahoo says that they support the no follow tag. http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000069.html However, it leads you to suspect something because they are indeed counted as Yahoo links.
I notice Google counts no-follow links under "Google Webmaster Tools" ---- are they counted, or just acknowledged & no link juice?
Dino no one besides Larry knows what it counts towards. But so far the public knows it does not count towards pagerank.. But does help because it gives you anchor text .. which is really important!
Google and Yahoo can count the links if they want to but you will not be penalized for having spammy outbound links or for link selling.
Yahoo is aware of links that have "nofollow" -- run a search using site explorer for links to a given website and it will still bring up links that have nofollow on them.
I use nofollow purely for pagerank only and htaccess for blocking but I've found pages usually get indexed eventually.
I just read on Google's webmaster guidelines, that no follow anchor text is ignored http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569
