many people said that google gives accurate result that yahoo but there are times I like what yahoo gives. When I search for certain term I observe that the result is always the same as I repeat it but in yahoo its all different and it gives the exact site that I want.

Ignoring the quality of results, Google give me approx 30 times the number of visitors Yahoo does. However, if I search on Yahoo for some things, e.g. software development companies, Yahoo gives better results than Google.

    From a webmaster perspective:

I moved from Yahoo search to Google search about 4 years ago, when I was on dial-up and the Yahoo page was taking too long to load. However, sometimes the search results were so poor, I returned to Yahoo to search. Google results have gotten better over time, as they eliminate many MFA sites.

Recently, I took a penalty from Google for duplicate content on one of my sites and my pages dropped in the SERPs. Although Google had sent 2/3 more traffic to my site, my Yahoo result pages still ranked where they had before before the penalty.

So, most of my traffic is from Yahoo, while Google takes it time considering reinclusion. My traffic dropped, but my click through rate increased.

Now, before I consider ranking for Google, I make sure I rank well in Yahoo. I think it's important to rank well in as many other search engines as you can.

While Google is King of the search engines...it's also difficult sometimes for a newbie not to make stupid SEO mistakes. My pages did not loose relevancy, Google simply dropped them far down in the results.

So yes, Yahoo will give you better search results about 60% of the time, while Google will send you more traffic and keep your SEO efforts on track.

Google's over-all quality scoring methodologies are the highest out of all Se's by far. That is why thier results are fast and good. It is also why SEOers are screaming blue murder :D.

As you already said "I've really never used Yahoo because I always believed Google gave better search results." So as people like us always use google and never go to other search engines the most suitable results we will found are on google always.. Dont know what u searched on yahoo which gave u some better results then google .. may u got the thing u were exactly looking for there in one hit..
