    Hi,

I was wondering if listing in yahoo directory really worth the 299$?

does it really drive traffic to your website?
does it really drive your page rank up in google?

    tnx for your answers

Have you tried searching for it on this forum, I think it was talked about before. Never used that $299 service might give you a boost PR wise not sure about traffic.

I am not sure, I don't think it's worth that value. But anyway, It's always a addition, I do believe it might increase your traffic abit, however not sure about that.

Here's the lowdown. This question is asked here often. You will find people who say it is not worth it while others say it is. Interestingly enough, the ones who say it is crap and not worth it and the money could be spent on other as good directories are usually directory owners (just to a search and see for yourself)

My personal experience has been that it is worth it to pay the money to get into the directory (of course assuming your site is actually worth visiting).

In a previous job, we actually made it part of our website package for clients as the ROI was more than worth it. Yahoo in our country at least began to incorporate the directory results as part of a local search functionality which drove targetted traffic to our clients websites.

Personally, it is worth it for credibility reasons and possibly some extra exposure. It will pass some juice along and help you get indexed faster.

Otherwise, that's a lot to spend on hardly any traffic (in my case). I only did it for one of my sites.

I would recommend it (if you have the budget) as it is still is a powerful directory.

I have one question regarding the yahoo directory. Just want to know are these $300 will be a good investment for a site in order to get better SE ranking.

Let's say that your site ranks good for some keyword, after submitting and paying the fee of $ 300/$ 600 <for adults>, will this change the positions, and if so how good will reflect this on this site?

Most of you will tell me that it depends on the market and the competitors, well ok. But need a little clue like what will be the main change. If It jumps with 1-2 pages in SEs, that will be cool, but if it jumps with 1-2 positions, well this is not so cool, having in mind that you have paid $ 300 per year.

Please, I will like to know what will say the people, who have done it and know what this submission could do for a site. How the trend goes after adding their site/s.

Thanks in advance and wish you profitable week.

I want to know does this listing moved your site in the SEs? This is my main reason to spend this amount of money on this Yahoo Directory Listing.

Thanks to all giving their opinions about this theme. :)

As mentioned in that link I think it may add to your serps, but traffic from it is minimal. I think the owner of associateprograms listed his site there and said he was getting around 70 - 90 uniques from it either a month or a year, not sure which one it was. If it was per year then it would not really be worth the traffic as it would cost you over $2.50 per unique.

If you have a quality site they will include it free of charge. Granted, it may take them a couple months to do it, but they will.

    @ Claudek

I'm offended! But if anyone wants a quick review for their listing and deeplinks, look at my sig. lol :)

Ok, back to the topic... I have sites listed in the Yahoo Directory, but I get no traffic from them. The value, I personally believe, is that the Yahoo Directory is the most trusted directory out there. Do search engines give you a boost because of it, in my opinion yes. I've witnessed traffic spikes about a week after each site was listed in the Yahoo Directory. The spikes came from increases in the serps.

Try to get a free listing, but if you are pressed for time then pay for it. Either way, it is worth it imo.

There ARE MANY other free good directories! Its not worth the $299 IMO.

I would submit to all the free ones and spend $299 on PPC!

    Just what i think.

I posted the same thread 8 months ago and got the same pros and cons. I went ahead and submitted just to see what happened. To date, I have received no direct traffic from the Yahoo Dir. I have seen no positive effects on page rank. When included, Yahoo did not simply accept my sites description, but they re-wrote it. The description does not accurately reflect the site content. The down side has been that all search results in Yahoo return the modified description. Would I submit again, probably not.
