Dear Forum people: Am trying to install XAMPP on Windows 7 for first time. Do I need a "platform," such as Visual Studio 2010? Thanks for any answer, Yshua
just like bebtunes said, you don't need any platform to run XAMPP on Windows 7. and tips from me , always close skype before running XAMPP. There is software conflict between skype and XAMPP. You can't run XAMPP Apache server with skype is on.
@kemonrider, I actually have to say that i was running skype when i did my install several times and it never forced me to close it, have you tried the latest download?
@bebtunes : yes, i'am using latest version. you can always install or run XAMPP with skype is on. But when you try click "start" , there should be status showing text "Running" with green background, but when skype is on, there aren't . But i never try running XAMPP as a service, maybe there won't be any conflict if using XAMPP as service. oh, and i found same case similar like me (unable to run Apache server while skype is on), and the other not have any conflict. Maybe it occuring to some user.
