My current XP Pro has Outlook Express as it's email program which I use for my business email and have used it over 12 years....works excellent. Eventually I will be mooving over to Windows 7. What email programs are on this operating system that are similar to Outlook Express? What should I do with the thousands of emails and addresses that are currently in my OE upon switching over? THANK YOU.
email client is not built in, you'll need to download and install your desired email client in windows 7. you can try windows live mail or web based outlook -> Microsoft Link for more info.
Much appreciated. I like Windows 7 more than 8 which seems "tablet based" as opposed to 7 which is similar to Windows XP for what I plan to use the computer for.....like putting all my desktop icons on screen to easily access whatever programs I like to use including Photoshop 6.0 etc. Thanks
It is a wonder why they took out an e-mail client by default in Windows 7. While Outlook Express was kind of simplistic, it at least let you get up and running quickly if you needed it
All of these feedbacks have me wondering then....I currently use Outlook Express as my email client (of course part of my current Windows XP Pro) and then my concern would be the switch to Windows 7. What will I do with the 3 or 4 thousand email messages in my Outlook Express 6 and what email program would work best for this switch? very frustrating............
Likely, Windows Live Mail will be your alternative. However I would assume that Thunderbird or any of the other major ones will handle this without any issues. You can export/import them, or just re-download them from the e-mail server on the new installation (if they haven't been deleted from the server).
Really great! However, I have decided to abandon using Windows 7 as my future operating system and have my new computer custom built with Windows 8.1 as the operating system. After speaking with a sales - tech person at a local Best Buy, I was amazed at how Windows 8 has improved from their simple touch screen look to their allowing the user experience to be like those of Windows XP where we can customize the screen and have desktop icons. Windows 8 also has a built in email program
If there was a way to get rid of all the tiles and set Win 7 /XP mode in 8.1, i'd be sold. They should just market that ability.
Try to visit a local computer sales in your area. I was impressed at the improvements made in just the last few months to Windows 8.1 because the tech person who showed me the various workings of Windows 8 had indicated Microsoft initially received alot of suggestions / complaints on how they disliked the look and feel and the way it worked....thus the changes. It allows you the ability to customize your desktop using your mouse etc....accessing folders and files etc.
