Of course I only do white-hat SEO but let's say I do some grey-hat methods (which I don't) sometimes for new websites that have nothing going for them yet and need to get past Sandbox. My question: Is there anybody out there who honoustly and sincerely never does any grey/black-hat methods anymore? I'm talking about: - Adding links on pages that you have access to but are not yours - Buying links (I'd never get into that!) - Keyword stuffing 101 - Spamming very lightly - Exchange links between clients without them knowing it - Any other trick that you don't feel comfortable about if it would become public I know I'm playing with the devil here and maybe it's better if you don't respond (I'm sure Google keeps an eye on this forum), but do you think there are still people out there who play the rules only 100% of the time? Besides me
of course....plenty of ppl use grey-hat and black-hat techniques every day. Everyones trying to own the internet! lol....it's a hell of a task I tell ya!
I don't think white hat SEO even exists. SEO starts at least with grey hat. You're not doing white hat SEO as well, you have links in your signature.
I agree with you there on "as soon as you start with SEO its grey". Pretty much any type of linkbuilding is grey hat already I don't consider putting links in a signature grey/black-hat though! It's just promotion for your most important websites that are relevant to this topic: SEO. Whether it be SEO-articles that's written about on your website or it be clients, it's SEO!
Maybe now you can not find anyone use white hat,but i think if you want to do seo, you'd better use white hat.
There is no such thing as white hat SEO anymore. Heck, I see you have some backlinks to your site on your sig, jingwen, that's not white hat. completely white hat will not get you anywhere with so much competition around.
White hat works great for me But there are people who use slightly grey hat and black hat techniques to make some extra cash.
Sounds like you don't really know what works. You have a lot to learn about white-hat seo. I'll use white-hat over black-hat any day. Been down both roads and prefer white-hat only. No grey, or black. It's unnecessary and too risky.
At some point or another, there are bound to be some greyhats involved. But blackhat is totally out for me.
Well I have to agree only through ignorance. If someone pushes the envelope knowingly, then I personally still consider it a black area.
White hat 100%. And who says signature links are "grey hat"? They are an honest, up-front, out-in-the-open method of drawing traffic.
There are plenty of people who produce high quality content who don't rely too much on SEO. The worse the website is, in general, the more likely people are to think of SEO as their main salvation. SEO is a small subset of SEM.
I have been testing this out. I have a website up with good content and no backlinks. Will see how long it takes to rank anywhere. Having said that, it is currently on page 4 of one of the appropriate keywords
I used to work strictly whitehat until last November update. Right now, and after checking so much spam, no content blogs, shitty mfa's ruling the serp's all over the place, I don't give a fuck and want to test all color modes. Black, Yellow, blue, Red... Love M'M's.
I think White Hat SEO will win out in the long run. Google and competing search engines are constantly updating their search algorithms to improve the searchers experience. They are tailoring their algorithms to those searching, not those looking for searches. Therefore, they want it to be easy for searchers to find quality content. Content is king - if you write quality, original content and keep your site updated regularly, after a while you'll be receiving more traffic and natural back links than you would if you invested all your time in black hat methods. Patience is king.
