    Hello,
does anyone know if location of server affect search rankings? Now I have webhosting that has server in Slovakia. I'd like to know if buying a webhosting on server in US (Yahoo webhosting or so) can help me to get higher search rankings?

    Thanks

If your latency to google is bad then it might affect the number of times google indexes your site/month. Just from a personal experience, might be wrong.

In principe it's not important where you have your page, as long as it is written in the correct language.

If you have a generic Top Level Domain name like a .com, .net, .org, .biz, or .info the server location is used to determine your site's geo-location using the physical location of the server based on its IP address. For Country Code Top Level Domains, the geo-location is set to that particular country. Since geo-location is a very important ranking factor in all of the major search engines, even when a user does not request a country-specific search, it's important for you to understand how geo-location works and take steps to make sure your site is targeted correctly. Google allows sites with generic TLDs to select a Geographic Target in the Webmaster Tools console, but of course, this will only affect Google.

i agree with rainborik but what worries me is that goole have said in their new algo update that they will take ip location into more consideration when ranking website's. i hope not koz all my sites are on 1and1 hosting and im truely happy with them

I don't think anybody would have a clear cut answer for your question. Google only knows how their algorithms work, and they are regularly updating to add more variables to their algorithms.

I think it does actually, but nobody can be 100% sure except Google. My opinion is yes.
