Does Visual Studio 2008 Standard come with ASP.Net?

    Hey there everyone!

I want a new version of VS. I've been using VS 2003 Acdemic for a long time. Soon I won't be a student and it will not be legal for me to use that version to publish online.

I liked the expense of VS 2008 Standard Upgrade. But I question if it comes with ASP.Net?

May you have a blessed day as the Lord wills.

VS 2008 Standard and above includes ASP.NET project templates for ASP.NET web form development.

The Standard Edition includes ASP.NET Web Service project templates and ASP.NET AJAX support too.

Thanks! It sounds like I made a good decision.

I guess the only question that remains is:

What's the difference between the ASP that comes with VS 2008 Professional and Standard?

If both ASP.Net and Ajax are included, then why spend more just for personal web app' development?

May you have a blessed day as the Lord wills.

I use Team Suite, but the major differences between standard and professional editions are as follows:

    1. Standard does not include the Office development tools (Office, SharePoint, etc)
    2. Standard has limited debugging tools (no remote process, SQL-CLR, T-SQL, or XSLT debugging)
    3. Standard has limited data tools
    4. Standard has limited reporting tools
    5. Standard does not include the smart device tools
    5. Standard does not offer the code quality tools
    6. More ...

For "personal" web application development, standard will work.

I use Team Suite for "Enterprise-Level" application development.

Thanks to everyone for their reply!

I'm still a newbie to this .Net thing. Much is still beyond me. I have confidence that I'll get bettter understanding in the future. (I miss the old fashioned, but simple, DOS compilers.)

New Q: I'm a bit concerned if VS Standard is suitable to develop an application that VS Express 3.5 can?

May you have a blessed day as the Lord wills.
