I recently Installed vBSEO on my forum and instead of getting more traffic I am getting much less, does anyone in this forum have good experience with vBSEO?
As with everything else, allow yourself and your forum more time. After all those rewrites, some re-indexing needs to be done. Cheers!
does vBSEO have search engine friendly URLs? For instance, does it turn the post title into the URL somehow? If so, I'm dying to have a script like that
vbSEO is a rip off because even though it does do some things like make search engine friendly URL's, you can do that yourself anyway and any benefit that is gained by using them is completely wiped away and then some because even though you are paying them, they still greedily insist on placing an outbound link on every single page of your site to them which kills any benefit you might otherwise have achieved.
Not unless you have a lot of incoming backlinks to your site. vBseo sucks and Minstrel has said it time and time again:
That would definitely NOT be a cause of vBSEO, the plugin will not positively or negatively affect your day to day traffic. Its purpose is for SEO, and organic engine traffic.
It does happen buddy. If your site has a lot of indexed pages + and all the pages have to be 301'd then you might lose your traffic for a little bit as they crawl the new pages.
could you please explain further or post a link? I'm looking to do this but I have no idea how to do it, and I can't find any good resources.
vBSEO Test Results (for Car Audio Talk on vulletin-faq.com) Shows that if it does work it takes time... In the short term though, some major losses should be expected as links change and need to be re-indexed. There are some other threads here with experiences and other stats: vBSEO - an independent case study Just installed vBSEO! - The "My Experience" Thread. and other opinion threads: vBSEO - Whats your opinion? Is vbSEO worthwhile? VbSeo Worth it? VBSEO for vBulletin? I'd suggest reading them and forming your own opinion on the product. Keep in mind though, that when reading them, most of the PRO posts are from vbseo staff, and most of the post against are from people that have not used it.
My traffic dipped a bit when I first installed it, but then came back up and surpassed previous levels. It also helped drastically increase my number of indexed pages across the main search engines. As has been said, though, many of the best features that vBSEO offers are available in free addons from vborg. Honestly, I will not be investing in vBSEO for the next vbulletin-based site that I start. The absolute best feature from vBSEO is the sitemap generator, and that's free.
vbseo is not made to increase your traffic, it will simply put, remove the duplicate content with the default vBulletin setup. It's a bit annoying seeing ppl bitch about vbseo, that their pr went down, or traffic went down, try educating yourself as to what vbseo will and wont do before spending money on it and making ridiculuos statements like some of the replies in this thread.
It all boils down to traffic... SEO is to optimize a site to get a better SERP, better SERP means better traffic. As for educating ourselves on what it can do, if you are correct, then blame the misleading sticky threads on the vbseo main site. "With vBSEO, Psicofxp.com Experienced 600% Growth in Traffic & a One-Day Record of $1400 in Google AdSense Earnings with vBSEO! " Though, actually trying to find out what the program can and can not do is not really all that easy, as there seems to be a distinct lack of a "features" page anywhere on vbseo.com that was written by someone on staff. yeah, they have a demo page, but you gotta login for that.
vBSEO had nothin to do with his success. It's like an ebook to tell you the truth. vBseo helps, but doesn't produce your daily income.
Thank you for clarifying. I think my post made it look like it was my claim, rather then the claim of a sticky on the vbseo site. I think the place reads like an ebook as well, one of those 'too good to be true' ebooks that you pay a mint for with only a fraction of the promised results...but then, I do not speak from experience.
Exactly. Have you ever heard about the weight lost pills? vBseo is pitching the same crap over and over. They're so-called seo'd urls don't do anything. If certain forum owners are producing, then its because of the ad companies that they use and not vBSEO. If vBSEO is so good, then why doesn't Digitalpoint or Sitepoint use it? Exactly. vBSEO lovers just love the software because they think its the best... its not. stock vbulletin urls are.
I installed vBSEO on a forum and saw no benefit. The forum is dead and I get little to no traffic. By the way, suzana, I like your sig "The Webmaster Forum where there is no banning". I registered there. How do you deal with spammers
