Does using XHTML damage PR and Spidering?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by misohoni, Oct 17, 2004.

    Just a quick question really, I've been using DIV tags, no tables etc., - perfect XHTML tags and my site isn't spidered v well as I thought it would.

    Is it because my source code is maybe too advance for the Search Engines and Spiders?

    Also by using things such as:
    <META content="index, all" name="Robots"/>
    <META http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="false"/>

    Is it effecting me?

    Search engines love XHTML since the amount of code versus content is reduced. My website is completely XHTML 1.0 strict and it gets indexed perfectly.

    err, found x6 errors with your HTML - so perhaps it's not so strict. Take a look through it with Firefox and W3C installed.

    Yeah, it was strict but some erros snuck in and I'm going to redesign anyway so it's not really worth it.
