Is there some embedded algorithm that google gives preference to their commercial customers? Of course it will not be admitted officially.. but does anyone have any reason to believe they are doing this, or any examples of it?
No. Google states very clearly that AdWords is firewalled from organic search. I was very suspicious of that for a very long time. However, I have tested it time and again. Each time I though "this is too obvious to be coincidental" I always changed my mind once I took a closer, objective view. /*tom*/
Adwords is used if you want traffic from google without having to compete with SEO things. It's money do the talk.
Google adwords and Google organic search has no effect to each other because they have different criteria. Google adwords is paid advertisement while Google organic is a free ranking depending on your search engine optimization techniques.
Google didn't use that way to attract more customers, in fact Google is blocking those kind of shortcuts and manipulations.
I have read all the posts.. what I'm skeptical of is not what's on the surface. Obviously, google says there is no correlation. But Google has also not disclosed important facts such as the extent of privacy data they keep on users. Years back there were rumors that google sold top organic placements for 6 - 7 figures to big customers who use their search appliance (big companies). It isn't that far fetched, we see it over and over.. If you think what Google has done, they have shifted the development of the internet towards their algorithm.. i.e. sites try to maximize their organic based on GOOGLE's algo - not based on their needs or native content. So sites becomes design slaves to google, in that sites are not designed with google in mind, not with their primary business or the delivery of information. Anyhow, it would be interesting to have some data to back this up instead of opinions, with alot of SEO elite in Digital Point I was hoping for some fresh perspectives and links to back it up.
Would be good to be true. If they would increase rankings, then no need longer to advertise with adwords.
Everyone's very sure that adwords doesn't help with ranking but no-one knows how the Google algorithm works. I'm not so sure . . .
It doesn't increase! But if you're spending big, big bucks on adsense, to a point that they have a representative to work on your account for you, then you probably could do a little bit of shady stuff, and not worried about getting banned. I read this from a webmaster blog some months ago on this. True story!
There may be no improved ranking for adwords but there is a link between your position in the serch results and the value of the clicks for adsense. the higher in the rankings you are the higher the value of the click throughs of the ads placed on your site.
I guess adwords probably does not have any impact on serp... simply because if it did, internet would be full of news/stories supported by facts and figures and do not forget... people are always eager to throw stones at giant like google... and so such a thing if ever it happened, would not remain under wraps! It will not have any direct impact but you can find a lot of No.1 Google ranking websites spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on their AdWords spending and achieving great results. Believe it or not even reaching the top of Google does not mean absorbing 100% of the traffic shares and no wonder the paid ads work greatly.
This was a conspiracy theory but I could say they have nothing correlated between each other. Your listing on Google Adwords will not have any impact toward seo in both direct nor indirect neither.
What is probably happening is that advertisers are trying so hard to follow every rule in order to get a good quality score that the quality of their site goes up, which moves you up in the ranking because you are doing what Google likes to see.
