Does Use Website Promote Machine Helpful or Harmful?

I've heard that there are some website or software where you just input your web URL, then they will send links to other sites automatically. But I don't know whether this way is helpful.

Can this way bring backlinks? Is this method banned by Google?
I need some answers.

 

Sounds like an automatic directory submitter. A bit of a waste of time (and certainly not worth paying for)
Most directories have no PR, the internal pages aren't indexed, and as they are little more than link farms, even if they get indexed, the links are of mnimal value.

 

Manual is the best process. Using these softwares is really a waste of time.
