Does US check External Hard Drive/DVD/CD for it's content when going there?

    Does US checks the content of Laptop, External Hard Drive, CD, DVD, and other portable storage device when going there?

    I doubt anyone is going to check your windows copy to see if it is valid if thats what you mean. If you have a hard drive full of kiddy porn or state secrets, you might want to try mailing it to yourself, customs doesn't check em all.

    I don't have kiddy porn or state secrets, but i got a big collections of software, mp3 and games (ex: Adobe Cs3 & cs4, Nba,Need for Speed) I have almost full my 500 GB external Hard Drive. can i bring it to the US? I really need to bring this.. any tips out there?

    I bring my laptop into the US 4 or 5 times a year and it's never been checked but I've read lots of stories about people being arrested after their laptop was searched but it's always for creeps with child porn on their laptops. I've never heard of anyone being arrested by Customs/Border Patrol for having warez on their hard drive
