Does it make a difference, in terms of Google search rankings, what structure my URLs are in.

For example which of these URLs would rank better (if any difference)?

    mydomain.com/1234/some-page-slug

    or

    mydomain.com/some-page-slug/1234

It means quite a bit, which is why URLs should be short, and should follow a logical pattern.

if you can,try to go for hyphens and not underscore in urls.Google reads keywords separated by underscores as one word

url structure has BIG matter and at both examples url structure is not good because of "1234"..this says nothing to google...remember that url structure is a GREAT way to use keywords..

These keywords also have more importance since they are in the URL. I have seen websites show up in SERPs just from keywords in the URLs.

It makes a difference, especially to new sites. Google even mention this in the SEO Start Guide. Search for it =)

If you can avoid the numbers, then it is best
But if you cannot avoid those numbers in URL, then the second example is best, IMO

Sure it matters, the sites seo architecture should fan out logically and geometrically.

    Hi,

It is always beneficial to use static Urls than dynamic ones with proper keywords in URLs separated by hyphens.
