    This definitely helps. You would be sending some link juice to both your homepage and blog. It wouldn't harm your site unless you got carried away and had many links to your site on one page. Even then you probably wouldn't get penalized. It is tough to get penalized for offpage seo. Basically Google does not want it to be possible to sabotage competitors through shady linking practices.
