Does twitter mask its out going traffic?

Does twitter mask its out going traffic? I'm getting a lot of re-tweets on my tweets and I do see a spike in traffic but I never get any stats saying I actually get traffic from Twitter from my hosting or mybloglog.

 

No, they do not
you should see clicks from Twitter in analytic or any stats program you use.

 

One thing that I notice in Twitter and that is that if I use the whole url, it will show up, but if I use bit.ly or any shortener, it doesn't. Makes it tough on the retweets if your url is long though.

bit.ly uses a 301 redirect, so there's no reason for it not to show up.

 

Twitter is simple to use, yet it is really powerful. You might need a couple of hours to get familiar with the basic functionality of Twitter and of some of the extras it has but you can harness its power, even if you don't know it very well.

 

I get data showing that I have gotten so-and-so number of visitors from twitter and think that should be the same for you
