I guess that depends on what you're doing. I just have a simple blog and I just post the headline's on twitter and link back to the article.

I guess the best results I have come from the more prominent headlines, like "player axed from team" or some such, but it depends on the story.

I find it's poor quality traffic when I try to market product on there. I find it much more useful using it to keep in touch with my existing customers and lists rather than worry about getting new traffic.

I get much better quality new traffic from other means.

Well, if you are interested in getting cheap, free and potentially quick traffic, then Twitter, along with the other social networking sites is the most convenient way of doing it, the only advantage of using it in the detriment of others being its “lightness”.

Maybe its just me, but I it seems to me that people would get tired of being tweeted sales messages. Even those following someone for marketing might find that getting old. It also seems like a lot of effort without software to get and manage a zillion followers.

Twitter can help alot with word of mouth. Retweets are very powerful, ofcourse this only works if you have a website or service that people actually like. Splogs or spam won't work.

We have had a number of sales which came directly from twitter. That sales trend also seem to be increasing slowly but surely. I understand there are a number of twitter guru's out there that really know their stuff when it come to social marketing. I don't quite understand the full implications and benefits of twitter yet.

I am in the processing of doing some research and the name Tina Williams has come up in a bunch of my searches.

With nearly every internet marketing forum promoting the use of Twitter as a marketing tool, promoting "Get Rich With Twitter" products, etc., there's bound to be a backlash, especially as the number of marketing-messages-as-tweets goes up.

hey there, I'm not sure about this but by "quality tweets", do you mean those informative ones or those personal opinions made by people? I never really know if people are more interested in knowing others, or more interested in knowing more knowledge. :p

It CAN help your business. But you have to look at it as a relationship-building and networking tool, rather than a way to make quick sales. Like if you're just adding people and hitting them with your affiliate link or website or whatever, then you probably won't see results. Mix up the kind of content you tweet, and actually interact with other people on the site (retweet their stuff, reply to them and join conversations).

Personally, I think you can update your twitter daily to tell other people what you are doing. Also, sharing something interesting and providing help can attract follows. In addition, you can change your backgroud and write your bio in a unique way, as we know, a unique appearance can gain many people's attention.

    Hey There,

Very important. Everyone uses it. In fact think about it, even celebrities use it without getting paid. Why? Because it's hot for networking.

    Thanks,

    Chris
