Does Twitter Help SEO for Our Websites?

twitter helps in getting traffic and quite a lot of backlinks and also useful.. no harm trying twitter.. i find it very useful for me..

Sounds like I need refresher on No Follow vs. Do Follow. Specifically, WHY do people use No Follow on their sites? Is it because other people's comments "steal" too much of your SEO juice?

 

Disagree with the above comment. Nofollow is a suggestion to Google not to follow something. Google doesn't listen a lot of the time. Nofollow links are not worthless. And many dofollow links are completely worthless.

Google understands what Twitter is. They probably even take number of followers into account (just a guess, but I would if I were Google because it's a very easy and democratic way of assessing your authority).

 

I tried this weekly but be sure that you use different word every tweet to avoid misleading cause of spam. this can help increase backlink. marketing strategy also for backlink. well if you have account why not since your target are people.

 

@marketingideas Wish you give some detail for where you wrote "No Follow" site are NOT worthless for SEO commenting. How can they possibly help someone else's SEO?

 

twitter helps in traffic and exposure, but it will not help in SERP's...

I think it will work not to build up backlinks but to get traffic. If you have lots of followers and your are tweeting about some interesting stuff with your site URL then your followers will click on them and ultimately you will get traffic. But cant say it will be relevant and how much people will click on your link. Traffic depends upon your products and services and there demand in market.

 

I think that works best by interacting with other tweeters. I don't think that you will get any benefit from just constantly tweting out urls to your site

 

i think the links coming from twitter is not so much beneficial for your site.but if have many followers then it can be used for pinging

 

Twitter will help to index the page in search engines. I don't think about twitter will give more traffic.

 

Let me tell you onething ,that no social site can offer you any valuable backlink as they donot allow to pass their link juice(means nofollow)

Now in twitter if you post your comment with #tag it can drive niche traffic. Moreover the results of every tweet can be seen on Google web search over UPDATES menu( left pannel->more->updates). So this can also drive search engine traffic to your site.

I think twitter really helps you to get traffic to your website. But you should use it in an effective way. Like you should tweet daily, should have many followers and should have a good profile. Also, tweeting should be done in a proper manner otherwise it would be treated as a spam.

 

nofollow link back from a quality website does have some value. Specifically for twitter, this value can be acquired with "Retwitting". More retwit your link receives, more quality it predicts your link has to Google. It is not always meant to be backlink is everything for Google, Quality of holding link does matter a lot!

 

IMO twitter helps in traffic directly and in SEO ( with its nofollow links ) as well, but indirectly.

 

I think I need to do more deep-linking of my web pages using Twitter, not just my home page.

 

Nofollow links are not backlinks. the only advantage is that some webmasters might like the content, see it and link to it.
