I reckon (could be wrong) that tweets including links call in the bots but do Twwets increase rank in Google SERP rank?

Twitter made all out-going links no-follow so they wont help you much in the SERPS. But you can still get a few just to diversify your links.

I think he asked for Tweeting and not for getting links from Twitter.

To answer the thread owner question, most obviously Tweets have been started counting by search engines. In the latest contract from Google, Y and B with Twitter, search engines are using tweets to generate real time search results.

I've a few different websites pick up tweets with my domain url (not tinyurl) and re-publish them on their site/blog...where they become dofollow.

    So....short answer = no

In the grand scheme of things = possibly yes

Yeah, it might work out if you have a lot of followers who are blogging and building websites in the same niche, and you post content they're interested in.

Than again, that works in almost any social network but there are still more direct ways to go about it :D

ah well, they did bring in some traffic but can anyone explain why so many bots are attracted to tweeted links? Is this something to do with real time search engines?

    Bingo! Interesting information.

Thing is, if nobody knows google's algorithm how can they be so certain that tweets nofollow or otherwise have no influence on Google SERPs?

I can concur that.. content syndication will pull content with keywords from twitter and publish it on other sites..

but the links on twitter are all "me nofollow" and useless from seo point of view...
