Does to much content on a page put people off from buying your product?

Does to much content on a page put people off from buying your product? For an example would 3000 words selling the product be to much, even if it had so many different advantages by buying the product.

    Many thanks

3000 words are too much in my opinion but then it also depends upon what sort of product you are promoting. Even in that case you need to make the content to the point.

I think it is good to have relevant info on your product, if it takes 3000 words than it is the right amount. But it just depends on your product, and don't be repetitive. I think the big things that turn people off about a page would be: poor navigation, annoying graphic, Videos/audio that start on their own.

thats a lot to read, if itwas for a car or something some one may want top read it but if its for a face cream then a few lines would be enoguh.

i defientley think to much info puts visitors off as it puts me off buying sometimes. if you have to have a lot of info make sure the buy now or add to cart button is at the top of the page and not at the bottom of all the text.

3000 words might be okay for a good "review" type page.

Otherwise, I'd consider breaking it up into at least 5 articles.
Each article titled with (and targeting) a related long-tail-key-phrase.
Ad them as pages to the site, interlinked, and linked to-and-from the main page.
Make sure each page has a link to the product-sales page (or site).

    Good Luck,

It really depends on product you are selling, because some things need a full description and some of them could be described with only few sentences. Just be sure that your product isn't somewhere deeply in you website, positing it in a well seen place. If you need to put a big text to describe your product, try to make a good layout for that text and don't write it in only one page, because people can be scared by lots of text in one place.

I like simple and straight to the point content, no fluff and no bs. Give me 100 pages and i will read them with pleasure. Give me 1 page with fluff and I will get angry :)

It's a question that really can't be answered with a "yes" or "no."

It's all in how you set it up, using the right words to sell, how the page itself looks....

But, to play it safe, it is always best to keep your page short. It shouldn't have to take no more than 5 minutes to read over everything.

I have seen God-awful pages that scroll down, and down, and down, and down....

What in the hell they were thinking I will never know.

Give them the not to have to read all of your 3000 words.

3000 sounds like too many. I would keep it simple and to the point using bullet points or short descriptive sentences.
