Does those long landing page really convert?

I am fairly a newbie here. I notice this forum is divided on the long landing page/short landing page issue. Some persons are defending the point that content is king, (which I agree) and the more information you provide the better your conversions will be.

I am more leaning to the side which are defending the short landing page (provides benefit of the product then a get more info button).

I've come across some very long landing pages, which are just too long in my opinion. They sometimes make the merchant’s site redundant with the amount of information they provide.

A shorter landing page for me...will actually provide concise information to stimulate their appetite, and then get them to go to the merchant’s site as quickly as possible…for the information that should convince them why they should buy.

Remember now, I'm still a newbie and could be wrong...so I welcome your comments on the topic.

If you are an affiliate and promoting some product, then you landing page shouldn't be long. Quick overview of a product, benefits, your recommendation, etc. You just have to make a visitor become more interested in the product and direct him to the merchant's page.

If you are a publisher, then it has been proven that those long landing pages sell well, and almost all publisher with those kind of pages do pretty good.

Long landing pages look so spammy that i just click off them immediately
They certainly seem to work - maybe in the USA more than the UK, but i'd never use them cos i think they devalue what you're selling, and anyone whose familiar with buying on the internet will probably avoid them.

But having said that, people do well out of them....if anyone's got any accurate research or comparrisons i'd love to see it too

Most merchant sales pages are lengthy. This is probably the biggest reason why it is better to have a short landing page. You don't want to keep a potential buyer of your affiliate product on your page too long....let the merchant sales page do the job of selling. You just focus on warming them up. That's why review sites are the best way to go.....they're short, sweet, and can warm up the potential buyer.

The strangest thing, when I go to read articles at Ezine, I usually find some long boring Squeeze Page at the end of those Articles, which I have never actually read through. I can just imagine how that turns off a potenial customer...after the article did its job to produce curiosity.

Long Sales Pages for higher priced products, shorter sales page for lower priced products.

Do the long landing page really convert, Is that a serious question!? It's been the standard for "Make money"/information sites for a reason.

    1. People like to read horizontally, look at a newspaper!!.

    2. People don't have to keep clicking, and getting lost.

    3. Stop asking this question!!

Well excuse me! Not everyone here is as knowledgeable as you. Questions and answers are what forums are about.

Discussing this topic in-depth will prove helpful to a lot of newbies like me who have just started out in Affiliate marketing.

My landing pages are not short, but they aren't long either, it's more like medium length. Works well.

Actually No! discussing this in full depth is not going to help you, choosing an merchant because his sales copy is long or short is a lil silly. Try Gravity, Competition, and trust worthy to pick a merchant.

I wasn't directing this at you. A lot of these questions are repeated day after day, but if people just used the search button more than the "new thread" button, DP would be a lot better place.

P.S. If your a beginner, your better off spending your time promoting a "proven" merchant, than deciding on what to promote. People spend way too much time deciding on what merchant, when their time is much better spent advertising and marketing.

    Peace

Vene you hit it right on the money, that's how I started out, by just choosing a proven merchant and started advertising, and THEN from there I started doing some hardcore testing.

Blackman's got a good point too, unless your designing your own product, then long landing pages shouldn't even be a topic here. You want to pre-sell with your landing page and get them over quickly to the sales pitch even if it's long or short.

Try some competitive keywords to see some good landing page examples.

You two: Veneficuz and PayPerClickbank, are both missing the point, I was not talking about the merchants landing page, was talking about an affiliate landing page!

Which is better, a long one or a short one? I don't have a problem with the landing page of the merchants that I have chosen.

I'm sorry if I wasn't a bit more specific in my post, but I am not talking about merchants landing page!

Short one, or medium one. You don't need to put the sales page on your landing page. Just review the product in few words (300-500) and direct the customers to the merchant's page for more information on the product.

I think it depends on the situation, but generally I think a longer page converts better.

affiliates landing page: short.. provide some good points about the product or your testimonial. get them off your page an onto the merchants page through your hop. Dont try to sell the product, just presell it and make them want to know more.
